Good to know:

If he seeks the presidency, the Florida Republican said, “I won’t be able to run for reelect.”
“If I decide that I want to be president of the United States then that’s what I’m going to run for,” he said at a Washington breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor. “I think if you want to be president, that’s what you want to be and that’s what you run for, what you focus on.”
Florida law prohibits a candidate from appearing on the same ballot for two different offices.
A potential run for president “will not be with the intention of looking for a Plan B if it doesn’t work out," Rubio said. "That is not my plan. That is not my intention.” He said there will be multiple Republicans seeking the nomination to his Senate seat. - TPM, 1/21/15
Now obviously the law won't allow him to run for both the Senate and the White House but Republicans may not be too happy to hear Rubio say this. Neither will Senator Rand Paul (R. KY) who is fighting to get on the ballot twice in his home state of Kentucky. Of course the Democratic controlled Kentucky state legislature and Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes are being a real thorn in Paul's ass on this issue. Personally, I hope Rubio does run because I believe this seat could be another pick up opportunity. However, I always felt Rubio could still be beaten with the right candidate (looking at you Rep. Ted Deutch (D. FL-21)). Lets not forget that Rubio was able to pull off a win because both Charlie Crist (I. FL) and Kendrick Meeks (D. FL) were both on the ballot. Had one of them dropped out Rubio's win or loss in 2010 would've been much, much narrower. Plus this shows that Rubio is much more serious about running for the White House than Paul who is trying to have his cake and eat it. I wouldn't be surprised if Paul was crazy enough to give up his seat for the White House but then again, he might get cold feet and realize that he may not be able to make real traction in the race. We shall see.
I for one would like to see Deutch run for this seat and he's been talked up as a real potential candidate. I want Deutch to run because he was then Senator Mark Begich's (D. AK) closest ally in pushing to expand Social Security. You can read my interview I did with Deutch back in 2013 here:

Deutch isn't ruling anything out and I hope he gives it a serious look.
