In Haiti, the world broke apart in what must have seemed like Armageddon. People crawled out from buildings to follow the sound of voices they did not know. Then with bare hands they dug through the rubble to free their neighbors. They shared bits of food with the children of strangers. In the dark streets women would walk and sing - not crying out for salvation, not praying for deliverance but singing praises to God. In Somalia women, starving and desperate, grab hold of their terrified children and walk to Kenya. In Darfur, they would choose who would challenge the rapist to secure the nights firewood.
When we earned the right to think of ourselves as special - soldiers wrapped rags around their feet and marched through the snow to fight the British. People with unclenched fists battled the hatred of racism and won. But that was long ago, back when we earned the right to call ourselves American.
Now we allow greedy men tear open the ocean and fill the sea with oil. People three thousand miles away, people who will never even see that ocean - tear at their clothes and hair in and scream to President Obama, "I'm scared Daddy! Forget Israel and Iran. Ignore the Greek banks and the Korean missiles! Cancel the meetings and the negotiations. Daddy Dadddy! Come soothe and comfort me. I want to be your only child."
America you have become a spoiled brat.
The whiners are on 24/7. Scarborough says "I'm not saying it's Obama's Katrina, I'm just saying that other people are saying it." But he says it over and over and over and over....till you begin to think "Could this be Obama's Katrina?"
And then there are the other failure junkies:
Dowd whines
Noonan find a opening
Matthews thinks it's Jimmy Carter the sequel
If given a choice during a crisis between "No Drama" Mr Spock and "I feel your pain (because my hand is up your skirt" Captain Kirk, I would choose Spock every time. I need a President not a Daddy and my President ain't your Daddy either. Grow the fuck up.
