Received this e-mail today from former Attorney General Drew Edmondson’s (D) gubernatorial campaign:
We’ve been at the capitol every day this week – hearing directly from teachers and students about what they need in their schools. I’ve heard stories of moldy classrooms, and of birds who live in school building ceilings.
So when I heard Mary Fallin say that these brave teachers are like a “teenager wanting a better car,” I was outraged.
Teachers aren’t demanding new cars. They’re demanding textbooks that aren’t held together by duct tape. They’re demanding schools that aren’t crumbling around them. They’re demanding a living wage so they can continue to serve our state’s kids.
If you support our teachers, please, sign our petition today. Governor Fallin needs to get the message. Supporting teachers is supporting kids.
That’s where I stand. If you do too, then join the movement to demand better funding for students across Oklahoma.
If you don’t already, make sure to follow our Facebook page for updates about the teacher walkout. And don’t forget to send Governor Fallin a message by signing our petition in support of Oklahoma’s teachers.
In solidarity,
Drew
